The Banana Honey Mask

written by Anna Peterson

 INGREDIENTS

  • 1 banana, ripe
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • 1 tbsp. baking soda

INSTRUCTIONS

Put your banana, honey and baking soda all in a blender. Blend until everything is combined and the mixture has a smooth texture.

APPLICATION

This mask is going to smell delicious, but do your best not to eat the thing. It’ll feel amazing on your skin, almost like a luxury treatment.

Let the ingredients soak into your skin until the mask feels dry. This should take around 10-15 minutes. Once dry, wash it off with lukewarm water.

BENEFITS

I know a banana feels like a weird thing to spread on your face. Believe it or not, however, a ton of high-end, luxury skincare brands use it as their key ingredient. And for good reason — bananas are high in antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. These properties work to soothe and smooth skin. Bananas are also rich in antioxidants (double bonus), which prevent free radical damage from pollutants in the air.

The baking soda works with the banana as a breakout preventing agent, containing many anti-fungal properties. Though, it is known to be slightly stripping on the skin, which is where honey comes into the picture. Adding a touch of honey will hydrate your skin and protect your protective barrier.
