The Avocado Mask

written by Anna Peterson

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 avocado, crushed
  • 1 tsp. olive oil
  • 1 tsp. aloe vera

INSTRUCTIONS

Start by crushing up your avocado (make sure it’s ripe). You want to try and avoid leaving big chunks in there, as that can get extra messy. Then add it to a bowl, with your olive oil and aloe vera, and mix. Tip: use a blender for an easy smooth mask in minutes

APPLICATION

The application portion of this DIY face mask is pretty simple. Just stick it to your face and let the ingredients do the rest! Leave it on for around 10-20 minutes and then wash it off with warm water. Avoid cleansing afterward and allow the ingredients to work their magic.

BENEFITS

This mask is all about moisturizing. Each ingredient is a master hydrator. Avocados are filled with key vitamins and minerals, like vitamins C and E, that have multiple skin benefits. They’re natural antioxidants, helping your skin combat the many pollutants it’s exposed to throughout the day. Plus, avocados are packed full of fatty acids that help to moisturize and protect the skin’s natural barrier.

Olive oil is known to be a natural humectant and emollient. That’s just a fancy way to say it helps to bring moisture to the skin and seal it all in there. Finally, aloe vera has amazing anti-inflammatory benefits.
